1. Maintain a wooden cabin

The wooden shed is undoubtedly the noblest and most authentic. But it is also the type of garden shed most exposed to natural aggressions. Wood can be sensitive to humidity, UV rays and parasites such as insects. This is why the wooden shed must be treated with rigor. During its installation, we advise you to pass a layer of stain (insecticide and fungicide) on the entire wooden shed. Avoid drying the wood in the sun after placing the product so that it does not deform.

As the effectiveness of the stain varies according to the quality of the product, choose a good stain so that you do not have to start too often. In general, it is recommended to treat your wooden shed every 4 to 5 years. Always perform a naked pose. In other words, the wood must be dry and clean to be treated. If you want to take the opportunity to repaint it, you must sand it, strip it and degrease it before applying the paint. For the rest, clean your wooden cabin regularly with soapy water.

2. Maintain an iron or metal cabin

The metal garden shed requires less maintenance than the wooden one. And that's why we love it because its longevity can go up to 25 years! That said, it requires a minimum of treatment to keep its shine and lengthen its lifespan. Mostly made of galvanized steel or aluminum, the metal shed is subject to corrosion. To properly maintain a metal garden shed, an anti-rust paint can be applied to prevent oxidation of the metal. In the same way, you can put polish to make it look more shiny.

From time to time, remember to clean your metal shed with a non-abrasive sponge and natural soap such as Marseille soap. Avoid rinsing with plenty of water and rinse gently. If you have persistent rust stains, you can use a stiff bristle brush or a steel wool.

3. Maintain a PVC or resin hut

Choosing a PVC or resin shed for your garden means choosing the most economical and easiest to maintain solution. Long shunned, PVC garden sheds are today more and more sophisticated and resistant. They are not afraid of corrosion and very little humidity and UV rays. Result? They do not require any particular product or treatment. The only thing to do is to clean them with a jet of water once or twice a year. If you want to clean specific tasks, scrub locally with a sponge and a little mild soap. In any case, avoid abrasive and corrosive products so as not to damage the surface of your shed!
