Discovered thanks to the brand new site Le Repère des Belettes, Zoé Rumeau did not fail to seduce us with its original creations. Also, we invite you to discover his work a little more closely.

Tell us about your background

I followed a classic course in art history at the Sorbonne then at the Ecole du Louvre which led me to work alongside Errò; this one made me want to go on the side of pure matter. I thus became the assistant to the sculptor Paul FLURY, who taught me everything: from welding to molding, from plaster to bronze.

Can you present your work to us?

I am a sculptor and I work with the material. My approach depends on it precisely, if I weave hair, if I sew butterflies for a chandelier or if I weld iron, I adapt to it. My job includes two facets, the first to give free rein to my imagination and my feelings by letting them express themselves through matter; the second, closer to decoration, where I shape the imagination of my sponsors in the form of letters, words, shapes, iron portraits.

How were your creations born?

I have worked for many years for fashion designers. At their contact, I entered a more decorative world and, I always liked working with the material.

What are your inspirations?

My inspirations are organic, intimate, natural and eclectic! I like for example artists like Louise Bourgeois, Anish Kapoor, Eva Hesse, Patti Smith, Calder and I particularly appreciate the current of Land Art.

Who are your creations for?

To the greatest number ...

What is your favorite creation and why?

My favorite creation is the one I'm currently working on. I have been embroidering a burqha in human hair for a year.

You are the creator of the month on the new site Le Repère des Belettes, tell us about this collaboration.

I met the creators during a personal order they had made to me, we got along well and during the creation of Le Repère des Belettes, they contacted me in order to present my work exclusively on the internet.

What are your next projects ?

I am preparing an exhibition in October, walls of flowers of wire and a large bazooka in welded iron for the living room of a very pretty young woman.
